Dans le dernier numéro de "The Latin Mass", le cardinal Medina est interviewé. Extrait :
**Q. Cardinal Ratzinger recently wrote that the Church has never forbidden any orthodox forms of liturgy. Did the Church ever ban the rite of St. Pius V, which was for centuries the official rite of the Church?
**A. I studied carefully the question of the abrogation of the rite of St. Pius V after Vatican Council II. I'm a close friend of Cardinal Ratzinger, a great theologian and churchman whom I've known and admired since 1962, and to whom I'm grateful for his profound liturgical insights. On the basis of my research, I cannot conclude that the rite of St. Pius V was ever abrogated. Some think it was. Others take a different view. And so, as the Latin goes, in dubiis, libertas [where there is doubt, there is freedom].
Later, Cardinal Medina was asked about the possibility of the traditional Rite co-existing along with the Novus Ordo:
**A. Personally, I don't particularly see any difficulty. There are already instances when certain celebrations outside liturgical norms enjoy at least a tacit approval, and so I see no problem with a four-century-old [sic] rite, which is also thoroughly orthodox.
Deux lettres d'évêques itlaiens en réponse à des demandes d'indult :
. The bishop of Pisa, H.E. Alessandro Plotti, writes:
"I wish to tell you that my refusal to grant such an indult is absolute and irrevocable. As bishop and pastor of this local church I don't see any valid ecclesial and pastoral reason why I should authorize the celebration of a Mass which may cause confusion and division among the People of God. It would be better for you to take a more constructive and positive attitude toward discovering the treasure and the many opportunities of ministry and community life which the liturgical reform [sic] of Vatican II brought about in the conscience of the People of God."
His colleague in Sassari, H.E. Paolo Atzei, writes:
"I'll never be the one in the diocese would would ever allow a return to pre-Vatican II, as you yourself and perhaps others in the diocese are looking for; nor would I ever permit in my diocese the celebration [of Mass] according to that Missal [of St. Pius V]. You need to walk in the Church. as a Church, with the Church for her Spouse and Lord Jesus Christ."
