VATICAN CONFERENCE ON LAITY AND ECUMENISM
VATICAN, Jun 27, 01 (CWNews.com) -- Four Vatican dicasteries
cooperated in arranging a symposium this week on the
responsibilities of lay eccelesial movements. The meeting, held in
Rome, centered on the role that lay movements can play in
ecumenical and inter-religious dialogue.
The forum was co-sponsored by the Pontifical Councils for the Laity,
for Christian Unity, and for Inter-Religious Dialogue, and by the
Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. The discussion was focused
on the Vatican document Dominus Jesus. The invited participants
included leaders of Focolare, the St. Egidio community, Communion
and Liberation, L'Arche, and the charismatic renewal.
