Heureusement, quelques "schismatiques" veillent aux grains et s'acharnent à remettre sur pieds le temple effondré : aux Indes, par exemple;
We get by, with a little help, from our friends!
(The following is intended for the most part for the Indian faithful of Bombay.)
Dear Faithful and friends;
Every day, after the Rosary, we pray, "O Lord, grant us priests";"O Lord, grant us Holy priests";"O Lord, grant us Many holy priests"!! This and other pious exercises have been created and used by Catholics to whom a special light of Faith was given. This special light, no doubt a ray from the Heart of Mary, makes some chosen souls realize with a special fervor and unction of deep affection, the utter necessity of having holy priests: Priests to draw down blessings, to forgive our sins, to instruct us all in the truths of religion. When the glory of the priesthood dims, and its members fall, palsied and leprous, away from the practice of perfection, all Creation is dragged down, groaning. Every level of society is affected: families are torn apart, governers and rulers become tyrants, the arts--painting, poetry, music--become grotesque because they cannot help but display what is in the hearts of men. This special insight makes the souls of pious folks cringe in silent agony, seeing a world where there are no longer "men of God", who reflect the unique perfections of Jesus as He is in His Priestliness. So, with sorrow bordering on despair, they cry out, "Grant us holy priests, O Lord! Even though we are not worthy of such a boon, grant them to us! Have mercy on Thy people, and do not leave us orphans, scattered like sheep in the desert, prey to wolves and hirelings!" Such is the cry of the godly. It requires deep wisdom to sort out the chaos in the world these days. Amongst the general populace, most people do not see the problems, or they perceive them only in a superficial way, in the most shallow appearances. Others can penetrate as far as worldly concerns go, and these will speak about the need for "reforms": economic reforms, legal reforms, political reforms. Highly intelligent worldlings become downright prophetic, seeing the logical outcome of the intellectual and moral disorders being propagated so effectively through the mass media and educational system. But the real cause of the chaos escapes their attention, because they do not have the special assistance of the Holy Ghost, dwelling in the souls of the faithful, and moving them to understand things "hidden from the wise and prudent of this world. " The cause of Chaos is a lack of Order--in particular, a lack of Holy Orders. The priest by his ordination must become a "holy Orderer", whose work is to restore Order in souls, Order between men and God, Order in society, Order in the Court!! And since the Second Vatican Council, too many priests are taking their "orders" from the notions of Freemasonry, enlisting in Hell's own army. In another sense, too many of them relish the thought of giving orders, but certainly not holy orders. In fact, the term "Un-holy Dis-orderers" aptly describes what has happened in the ranks of the clergy since Vatican II. Omne Malum a Clero. What a joy it is to see the good that results from the work of good priests, of holy priests! As the work founded by Archbishop Lefebvre continues to grow, the world is able to see the good fruits of Order being restored. Individuals, families, and communities find again their supernatural balance, when they are properly Ordered. Education and art regain their beauty. Innocence begins to shine once again in the faces of the young, and God makes His presence more visible by the presence of holy priests. Would that all our faithful shared this insight, so as to feel most keenly the need they have for holy priests! Oh, if parents, illuminated by this thought, inculcated in their boys the seed of a religious vocation--not to be a tepid priest, nor a mediocre one, but a saintly priest, a holy priest! Even priests themselves stand in need of this light: to treasure their priesthood, realizing its utter necessity for the human race. If the priests themselves could realize how much is lost by their own slipshod performance, they would be spurred on to a life of greater generosity. The whole story of Econe is populated by special souls who had this special light. "Archbishop Levebvre, MAKE us to be Holy priests!!", said the first recruits. "Archbishop Lefebvre, SEND us Holy priests!!", cried the Catholic faithful. And throughout the world, the faithful gave of their substance all that was needed to train, house, feed, and bring priests whithersoever they were truly appreciated and wanted. Without a doubt, those who helped the work of the Society to rise from the ashes of Vatican II will have a special share in the merits of all their beloved priests. Dear Faithful, it is my hope that by reading this letter, you will feel a rising emotion of holy envy, such that you will be desirous of imitating those early and generous supporters who came to the fore in support of the work of Archbishop Lefebvre! For God has answered our prayers; He has sent to us five young men who are ready to sacrifice all to serve under the banner of Christ the High Priest. The road to the priesthood is long, and challenging--that is why you must pray earnestly for them, for many years, that their good desires will not fade or falter. Nelson, Lawrence, Anthony, Sunil, and Gregory are their names, and we are preparing to send them to Holy Cross seminary to begin their training. You need them--and may God grant that you may see them one day ordained to the Priesthood. Right now, though, they need YOU, because the cost of sending them to Australia and France far exceeds our resources at this time. Therefore, I am calling upon all of you who treasure the priesthood, who treasure the Holy Mass, and our Holy Faith, to help us in our time of need, by contributing generously for this intention. Give what you can, to help these young men on their way---they have already sacrificed much, for the sake of the True Faith: their family ties, years of study, friends and sweet promises of an easy way. You also, sacrifice much, and you will receive much, from the hands of Jesus Christ. Your special donations may be sent to the Father's residence, in Palayamkottai, with a note attached specifying the intention of helping our seminary candidates. In this way, you can play a part in the future restoration of the Church and the Faith in Bombay. May God bless you for your prayers and generous help.
In Christ,
